Putting in the miles for Stones homecoming

She has never seen Maidstone United play in Kent’s county town but she was more than happy to walk 10 miles to help raise funds for the Stones homecoming.

Eleven-year-old Emilia Threadgill was one of 11 supporters who walked from Maidstone to Sittingbourne. She did the walk with her dad and together they raised around £50 for the Bring The Stones Home appeal.

Emilia said: “My dad and I walked from Hollingbourne to Sittingbourne – it was tiring. I’ve supported Maidstone for ages – since I was born. I am really excited about Maidstone coming home. Me and my friends will be there for sure. I’ve also played for Maidstone Rascals and scored a hat trick in a match. It’ll be great to play at the new ground.”

Emilia was congratulated by The Stones first team after completing the 10-mile trek.

Alongside the 11 walkers, the sponsored walk had a mascot in the form of Harvey the dog.

Congratulations to the following for completing the walk: Annie Brockway, Lyn Brockway, Trevor Brockway, Mike Bull, Paul Furst, Becky Miller, Harvey Miller, Butch Nott, Shakey, Emilia Threadgill, Nigel Threadgill and Kevin White.

And thanks to Steve and Helen Terrell and Stewart Smith for stewarding the route.

The walkers will present the proceeds of the walk at a forthcoming home game.
