Maidstone United are delighted to announce that their state-of-the-art synthetic playing surface has passed its FIFA inspection and is now fully certified for competitive use.
The new pitch, which is the centrepiece of The Stones’ brand new £2.6 million Gallagher Stadium, was subjected to thorough testing by FIFA’s appointed synthetic pitch testing contractors Labosport on 6 June. The pitch received the highest grading available and is now officially rated as “FIFA QUALITY CONCEPT FOR FOOTBALL TURF – 2 STAR”.
The synthetic surface is a similar match and brand to that which is installed in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium. That pitch has hosted World Cup Qualifying games, notably Russia vs England and UEFA Champions League ties involving Premier League clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
With the pitch having achieved the required grading, it has now been added to the Football Association’s Register of Artificial Surfaces meaning that competitive fixtures can now be played at the Gallagher Stadium where competition rules permit.
