Local MP appointed sports minister

Tracey Crouch, the Member of Parliament for the neighbouring constituency of Chatham & Aylesford, has been named as the new sports minister.

Ms Crouch, who’s an FA qualified football coach, managed a Meridian Girls’ team – taking them under 10s through to under 18s.

Maidstone United co-owner Oliver Ash, who’s pleased the role has stayed with a Kent MP, tweeted his congratulations earlier:

The 39-year-old takes over from Maidstone and the Weald MP Helen Grant who held the post for 18 months.
