Joe Healy

Healy good deal for the Stones

Experienced midfielder Joe Healy has joined Maidstone United.

Following his departure from Welling United after four seasons, the 28-year-old was linked to the Stones and the club can confirm that a deal has been agreed for the 2015/16 season.

Healy made 202 appearances and scored 35 goals during his time with the Park View Road outfit. He played an important role in the club’s promotion to the then Conference Premier.

In December 2013, he scored a wonder goal against Grimsby that was hailed by some pundits as the ‘best ever Conference goal’.

Prior to joining The Wings, Healy played for clubs including Crawley Town, Hayes & Yeading and Margate. His playing career started as a trainee with Millwall.

Stones boss Jay Saunders said: “Joe’s got the experience that a club needs when it moves up a level. He’s a player we’ve kept tabs on and I am delighted he’s chosen to join us. He’ll be a good influence in the middle and a few goals like the one against Grimsby wouldn’t go amiss!”
