Did you know this week is Men’s Health Week?
Organised by the Men’s Health Forum, this year’s awareness campaign runs until 21 June and aims to highlight issues around healthy living for men.
The harsh reality is that men are less likely to lead a healthy lifestyle. They are more likely to smoke, drink alcohol to hazardous levels and be overweight or obese.
These lifestyles can lead into serious diseases such as cancer, heart diseases and strokes, the risks of which can be reduced by leading a healthy lifestyle.
If some of those themes are ringing alarm bells with you – then help and support are available.
The Stones, in conjunction with Maidstone Borough Council and Wellbeing People, are offering places on a fitness course. It’s called Match Fit and it’s a free tailored programme designed to help you improve your health and feel better.
Courses start this month and will be on Thursdays, for ten weeks, at the Gallagher Stadium. Course one is from 17:30 to 18:30 and courses two is between 18:30 and 19:30. Each course has space for 12 people.
If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is 28 or above, you can sign up by contacting Colin Wilson by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01622 834885.
- If you visiting The Mall Maidstone this week, look out for the Health MOT roadshow and get your weight, BMI, body fat content, heart rate and blood pressure measured.
Fit Stones and Match Fit are supported by Golding Vision, Kent County Council, Maidstone Borough Council, Strictly Fitness and Wellbeing People.
