Following the cancellation of Maidstone United’s pre-season friendly at home to Crawley Town, club management have decided to make this Saturday a first team training day.
Other clubs were contacted initially but with a fairly congested pre-season schedule, a decision was made to take advantage of the break and focus on fitness and preparations for the new season.
Jay Saunders said: “As disappointing as it was to lose the Crawley match, it gives us the chance to have a break from matches. After Charlton we’ll have played four in eight days and I’ve got two games next week before the Hendon match a week Saturday.”
The Stones welcome a Charlton Athletic XI to the Gallagher Stadium tomorrow night (23 July). The first team will be away at Faversham Town next Tuesday (28 July) and the following night an XI travel to Hythe Town.
The Isthmian Charity Shield rounds off pre-season on Saturday 1 August – seven days before the Vanarama National League South opener away at Sutton United.
