We are looking forward to being back in FA Cup action tomorrow. After last year we have fond memories of the competition and hopefully we will have another run in it but we have got a tricky tie against South Park.
South Park reached this stage by beating Leatherhead who are in the division above them so that will have given them added belief that they can beat teams at higher levels. We had that last year as when we beat Welling it gave us added confidence that we could go to Stevenage and get a result. They will be on a high after their win on Wednesday. I went to watch the Leatherhead game and South Park thoroughly deserved the victory.
We know that South Park are a good side with team spirit and that tomorrow’s match will be tough. We warned the boys about that at training last night. In pre-season we played the likes of Faversham so they should have an idea of the type of side that they will be facing.
South Park also have some players who could be playing at a higher level. We think we know a bit about them and what they will be like but I have also been speaking to some other managers in case they have seen other things that we haven’t.
There are one or two positions that I might change for tomorrow in order to give some other people a little run. But that is something I will think about overnight and we will look at that tomorrow. The likes of Mitchell Pinnock, Simon Johnson and Alex Akrofi are itching to have a go and obviously we have also got Alex Osborn now as well.
I think Alex Brown will be out for a minimum of two weeks and that might probably be three to four weeks in the end. Hopefully the knee injury isn’t too bad and last night the physios seemed pretty confident that it wasn’t.
Finally, I am sure all of our fans have got good memories of the cup run from last season. If we could recreate that buzz around the ground again tomorrow then that would be great.
