Goals from Adam Birchall and Bobby-Joe Taylor gave the Stones a 2-1 win in the first ever floodlit fixture at Honey Lane.
The match also celebrated Bearsted’s 120th anniversary and a good midweek crowd were in attendance to mark the occasion.
Bearsted successfully secured a grant from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund to improve their ground. This included the floodlights and seating for 100 fans.
Honey Lane is a familiar venue for the Stones. Before the Gallagher Stadium opened in 2012, the club’s reserves, ladies and under 18s all played there.
Also familiar will be a number of the Bearsted squad, which includes the likes of Rob Lyall, Sam Flisher and Graeme Andrews. Graeme’s brother Scott plays in goal and dad Duncan is the club’s chairman.
