Nicky, Jamie and I have had a good chat ahead of tomorrow’s game and I think we are pretty much decided on how we will go for the Yeovil match.
The fact that Yeovil have got so many injuries has made our preparations quite difficult. We have watched a lot of footage of them and spoken to a number of managers about them but to be honest, we are not sure what will happen with the players they have got available. You end up guessing so all we can do is concentrate on us.
At the end of the day though Yeovil are a league side with good players in their squad. Whatever side they put out will be very strong and a lot better than we are used to playing against. We know it will be difficult so we have got to make sure we prepare right and that we are up for it.
I think it will be a greater challenge than when we faced Stevenage. Yeovil are a big club who were in the Championship just two years ago. When you are a club like ourselves who beat league opposition last year, I think it will mean that Yeovil will do a bit more homework. We are also a league higher and having a decent season so teams might look into us a little bit more. I think we will get more respect from Yeovil than we did from Stevenage.
Playing on a Sunday does knock people’s routines out a little bit. We have got to get on with it even though we would have preferred to play on a Saturday at 3pm. But it will make it a good occasion and with the new and increased capacity that will only add to it.
It was nice to pick up the Manager of the Month award. It’s not just for me though. It’s for Nicky and Jamie too as well as the players. The players are the ones that have gone on the great run. Whilst it’s good to get the award it’s not a personal thing and it’s a collective effort.
