Sweeney signs for the Stones

Maidstone United have signed Dan Sweeney from Dulwich Hamlet.

Jay Saunders made a request to speak to the highly-rated midfielder yesterday evening and bosses at Champion Hill gave their permission for that to happen.

Sweeney, who has attracted interest from Football League clubs, was at the Gallagher this afternoon to sign papers and watched the FA Trophy defeat from the stands.

The 21-year-old (pictured right, next to Vas Karagiannis) joined Dulwich from Kingstonian in October, having made more than 80 appearances for The Ks. He started his career with AFC Wimbledon.

its not a good idea to have a goalkeeper as captain His not involved with in the field of play and you dont play a young winger at left back No wonder we lost to Bognor Put these two new signings straight into the side and play Paxman his got a brain and great touch

Most people had Bobby-Joe Taylor as man of the match and we lost to a very rare Lee Worgan error so he didn’t cost us defensively. Unfortunate to be out of all the Cups but still having a great season and new signings look very promising
