New signing Callum Davies made his Stones debut in the 2-1 win over Margate on Saturday.
He had been on the bench for the two Christmas fixtures after completing his move from Gillingham on 23 December.
“I really enjoyed the match and it was great to get the three points,” he said. “It’s about eight weeks since my last game, so it was a bit tiring and I felt like I was treading treacle but that’s football.
Davies came into the defence alongside Jamie Coyle, Callum Driver and Tom Mills.
“I know Callum – I played Kent under 14s with him and Millsy was in the same district team when we were younger. They’ve been on a good run of form with Manny and it can be hard sometimes to slot in but it worked and we got the win which was the main thing.”
A fortnight after signing, he’s settling in well and looking forward to the rest of the season.
“I don’t regret the move. I feel like it was the right thing in my heart and I am really enjoying it. I am looking forward to getting back into a routine, as Christmas messes that up, and getting used to the football and the regime here.”
The Stones are back in action this weekend with an away trip to eleventh-placed Bath City. The two sides met at the Gallagher back in September, with Jay May’s early goal securing all three points.
