Leaving school this July? Would you like to sign for Maidstone United in September?
The club are hosting a trial for their football academy on Monday 15 February at the Gallagher Stadium. This is a chance for students currently in Year 11 to impress first team boss Jay Saunders and academy coaches Jamie Coyle, Tom Parkinson and Jim Bodle.
Registration is at 09:45 and the trial will run from 10:00 to 13:00. (A selected number will be invited back the following day too).
To apply for the trials, register your details at www.maidstoneunited.co.uk/academy2016.
Successful candidates will start a two-year course after the summer holidays – swapping school for the stadium with football and studies taking place at the home of the Stones.
Academy players study for a BTEC Level 3 in Sport and have the chance to earn FA Coaching Badges at Level 1 and 2.
The club have two teams in the prestigious Football Conference Youth Alliance – one of the largest leagues in the country – featuring academy teams backed by professional or semi-pro clubs. One of the academy teams is top of their division and both are in the last 16 of the league’s national cup competition. Players also represent the club in the FA Youth Cup.
A dozen academy players have featured for the first team this season, with several dual-registered with clubs in Ryman Division One South and the Southern Counties East League.
Jay said: “Interest in the academy is strong again this year. The attraction of playing and training at the Gallagher is a massive draw and competition for places will be high. With the facilities we’ve got here – both for education and football – there’s no better place for someone who seriously wants to make it in the sport be that as a player or a coach.”
