It’s football as normal tomorrow even though we haven’t got a game. Me, Nicky and Coyley will be off watching matches. Ideally I’d prefer us to be playing but as we aren’t, it’s important to go out and have a look at players and see how other clubs are doing.
After three wins and especially on the back of a really good away performance last weekend the boys have all been on a high. It would have been ideal to have had another game but it is what it is. In some ways it’s not a bad thing – we’ve got a couple carrying knocks and it’s been good to be able to rest them and get them right. We should be able to go to Weston, albeit if the game is on, fully fit and ready to go.
We had a friendly on Tuesday night and it was great for the likes of Birch, Bobby and Bodders, who haven’t had much game time recently. There were others too – Manny had missed the last couple and Callum Davies still needed some more minutes. It was also good for us to have a look at some of the younger lads and see a couple of trialists. It was worthwhile and we’ll try and line some more up.
I’ve spoken to Mike Sandmann [Leatherhead’s manager] and Browny about his loan which finishes tomorrow. After the first month you can have a call-back, so it’s something we’re looking at. Nothing’s done but I’ll have a chat with them over the weekend and see where we go with it.
It’s a possibility that others may follow Browny and Fran on loan. One thing I don’t want to do, when we’re in a good position in the league, is to leave ourselves short. When you send them out you lose them for a whole month, so it’s a decision you have to really look at and make sure you’ve got enough cover in those positions.
With Browny in midfield we felt we had enough so we did it but we’ll look at it again over the next week. I am not one for having five or six seating in the stands, so if it’s something we need to do then we’ll do something.
