A local football league has helped Maidstone United’s fundraising campaign to reach a new landmark.
A donation of £250 from the Express Auto Centre Maidstone and Mid Kent Sunday League has helped push the Stand up for the Stones total to £20,238.
League secretary Steve Taylor said: “We are delighted to be able to make a contribution to the new stand at the Gallagher. The club have been fantastic supporters to our grassroots league with our cup finals and management meetings held at the ground.
“The whole club is a credit to Maidstone and promotion to the National League has really put the town back on the football map. We look forward to seeing the new stand completed and full of supporters as the club grows.”
Club chief executive Bill Williams added: “My thanks to the Maidstone and Mid Kent Sunday League and all those who’ve helped raise £20,000 towards the new stand.
“Our promotion to the National League has incurred stadium costs of near on a million, none of which was budgeted for in this financial year. To have the backing of so many is fantastic and I know the owners, who’ve given so much in recent years, appreciate the gestures that have been made.”
Businesses or individuals can make a one-off donation via the website – www.maidstoneunited.co.uk/standupforthestones – or at the club office on weekdays between 09:30 and 16:00.
There is also the opportunity to make a contribution on a monthly basis via PayPal or a standing order with your bank or building society. Supporters pledging £20+ will have the opportunity to be part of a photo montage and contributions of £50+ will be recognised on an honours board.
