Coaching Centre

Bags of opportunity at Tesco

The supermarket’s slogan is ‘Every little helps’ and that’s exactly what we’re asking you to do for the next few weeks.

Maidstone United Coaching Centre is one of the schemes vying for funding from the Tesco Bags of Help Grants Programme. When you shop at one of several local stores (list below), you will be given a token at the checkout to put into a voting box.

Placing that in the Stones box will help the club’s coaching team increase the number of community programmes with schools and other local groups. Voting runs throughout February, so the more you shop, the more tokens you can drop.

Jay Saunders said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted and hope the club’s supporters get behind our funding bid in the coming weeks. It would be a major boost to our community and in-house programmes to secure funding from the Tesco scheme.”

Bags of Help funds are generated from the 5p carrier bag charge at Tesco stores in England, Wales and Scotland. That money is being used for grants to improve local parks, hold community events, support sports groups and more.

The fund is managed by the community charity Groundwork UK.
