More than 800 people were at the Gallagher Stadium last night to celebrate the life of Tania Mackelden and raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The game was organised by her son Tom, who was at the Maidstone United Academy between 2014 and 2016. Mrs Mack, as she was affectionately known to many, sadly passed away just days before the football fundraiser.
In her memory, family and friends were joined by hundreds of well-wishers. Before kick off, Tania’s husband Lee and son Tom paid emotional tributes before balloons were released into the night sky. The match itself saw Tom’s family and friends take on former academy teammates.

Admission fees, as well as raffle and silent auction proceeds, will be added to Tom’s fundraising tally on behalf of Cancer Research and the total raised on the night will be announced soon.
Tom is also running the London Marathon this April on behalf of Cancer Research. His fundraising page for that is www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Thomas-Mackelden2016
