After three years and nearly 100 appearances, Jamie Coyle is leaving Maidstone United.
As well as being a regular in central defence, he had a dual role of player/coach alongside Jay Saunders and Nicky Southall. His performances during the National South promotion-winning campaign saw him voted the supporters’ player of the season for 2015/16.
For the past couple of years, he’s combined first team duties with a role as coach and tutor at the academy and will remain with the club in that capacity.
Stones boss Jay Saunders said: “I can’t speak highly enough of Coyley. His presence on and off the pitch have had a massive influence in where the club is today. The experience, organisation and calmness he brought to the team during the past two seasons are a major factor in the success and stability we’ve had.
“The season just gone was a demanding one and with the change in training starting in the summer, I respect his decision to look elsewhere and I am sure it won’t be long before another club snaps him up.”
