Maidstone United under 16s

Under 16s secure league and cup double

Maidstone United under 16s clinched the Kent Youth League Central championship today to complete a league and cup double.

The title went down to the final day of the season with the Stones and second place Wadhurst vying for the trophy. Two points separated the sides going into this morning’s fixtures but a 3-1 win over Sevenoaks made sure it was Maidstone celebrating on the final whistle.

Stones goals came courtesy of James Jeffrey and Johnny Phillips (2). One of Phillips’ efforts – a spectacular volley from the edge of the box – was a highlight of an entertaining finale.

Kent Youth League Central Top 5 (after 22 games)

  1. Maidstone United 55pts
  2. Wadhurst United Juniors 53pts
  3. Ebbsfleet United 40pts
  4. Tunbridge Wells Youth 37pts
  5. Crayford Arrows 36pts
