Maidstone United’s back five is taking shape as Magnus Okuonghae signs up for the new season.
The experienced defender, who played more than 200 games for Colchester United, joined the Stones in mid-February and featured in the final few games of the season alongside Kevin Lokko.
With a playing career spanning more than a decade, he’s got a wealth of experience to bring to the team as it prepares for a second season in the Vanarama National League.
Magnus said: “For me it was a no-brainer and I am delighted to be back next season. I’ve really enjoyed my time at the club so far, there’s a good bunch of lads, good manager and unbelievable fans who turn out in such numbers home and away.
“At this time in my career, I’ve found a club that’s ambitious and heading in the right direction and one that’s close to home, so I can be near my family too. It works for me on all levels.”
Bill Williams added: “Being an ex-centre half myself, I can sometimes be critical of players in that position but in Magnus I think we’ve got the dominant type of centre half that our team needs.
“Not only is he good in the air but he also has the most dominating presence I’ve seen in a long time and I hope he’s going to be a big influence on the development of our back line.”
