Smoke No Joke

MESSAGE TO OUR SUPPORTERS FROM CHIEF EXECUTIVE, BILL WILLIAMS

SMOKE BOMBS, FLARES and FIREWORKS

At our last two games a flare has been set off in the home supporters section at our home against Maidenhead on Saturday the 5th of August and then away at Ebbsfleet on Tuesday the 8th of August.

This is the fifth occasion that the club has been reported to the FA for this type of behaviour over the last nine months for not controlling our supporters correctly.

It is time to put an end to this stupidity, before someone is injured and just as importantly that the club is not fined or banned by the Football Association.

We certainly do not want to appear as ‘big brother’ or even a regimented club – but on this occasion I am appealing to all of our genuine fans to help us weed out the guilty parties by reporting them to the club, or alternatively if this doesn’t sit well with you talk some sense into the perpetrators.

We have taken a while to get to this position in football and have no intentions of allowing one or two idiots to ruin the pleasure and safety of the majority of our fans.

When we find the individuals responsible we will make sure that they are prosecuted and hopefully get a life time ban imposed on them. The sooner we can eradicate them the better.

Our aim as a football club is to provide a safe environment for everyone who wishes to attend matches. Your safety is our priority and the club is working hard to make sure that your match day experience is enjoyable from the moment you arrive until the time you leave.

Remember, the behaviour of our fans is our responsibility both at home and at away fixtures. Any fine we may receive is less money for the club. We could even face point deductions or the prospect of playing behind closed doors.

So please remember:

  • You can go to prison for even attempting to enter a football ground with a smoke grenade or flare.
  • Football banning orders last for three years where you could get barred from ANY football match in England and Wales.
  • You will get a criminal record and probably be fined.
  • This could stop you travelling abroad even for family holidays.

PLEASE HELP US KEEP SMOKE BOMBS, FLARES and FIREWORKS OUT OF FOOTBALL.
