It’s Non League Day and the Stones are hosting Guiseley at the Gallagher Stadium.

Like last season, Guiseley are struggling early on and have taken just nine points from their first 14 matches. Their disappointing start meant that manager Adam Lockwood was replaced by former Barrow boss Paul Cox at the beginning of September.

Cox hasn’t overseen a particular upsurge in form though as in their last five matches the Lions have drawn three games before losing against Maidenhead United and Macclesfield Town in the last week and in fact, Guiseley haven’t won for nine matches now.

Unsurprisingly, Cox has moved to strengthen his squad and has brought in three new additions in recent days. Joining the Lions are left back Lewis Freestone, striker Mike Fondop and winger Andy Haworth.

By contrast, Maidstone lost for the first time in six matches on Tuesday night. Their 2-0 defeat at home to Bromley was the first time the Stones had tasted defeat since they lost 3-1 away at Hartlepool on 2 September.
