Jay’s Journal

I am delighted to get Dean, Ross and Blair on board. They’ll add something to the squad and it gives us a lift going into today’s match against Bromley.

I am certainly a lot happier with where the squad is than I was a week ago.

The new additions took a little longer than I would’ve liked. It would have been ideal to have got them in earlier so we could have done a bit more work in training, especially in Blair’s case, as he didn’t have a chance to train with the boys.

I have and always will get players that will fit in – not only as players but as people as well. All three of them are good lads. They want to come in and do well and their attitude was spot on from the off.

What they’ve got is loads of experience, especially the two boys from Sutton. From that side of things, it’s a big plus and we’ve also got the youthful side of Blair and the energy he brings. I am looking forward to getting them all involved.

With the new additions, I’ve agreed that Johan ter Horst can leave the club. He’s been great and the effort he put in after that double shoulder op was first class. He didn’t get the minutes he needed and I fully understand him wanting to play regular football. I wish him every success and he’s definitely one I’ll keep an eye on.

I am pretty much there with the squad for this afternoon – all bar one position. It’s going to be a real tough test. Smudger has got Bromley firing this season and they’re one of the top scorers in the league. They’re a very good side with loads of pace and are well-organised at the back.

We’ve got two games coming up against them but they’ll be two very different games. I guess Smudge will be the same in that the league is a priority. The Kent Cup is something where I am sure both sides will give players that have not been getting minutes a run out. That’s what we’ll look to do on the Tuesday but all our focus is on today and trying to get the win that’s eluded us for so long.

There’s no better time to get that but we’re under no illusions, it’s going to be a real tough challenge.

  1. Well done to the manager in getting in these new players, they certainly made a difference in the game at Bromley.
There certainly seemed more purpose in our approach , it looks good for the remaining games , well done to the whole team.
As one of the visiting fans I thought that Bromley F.C. did not treat us so well considering the weather conditions , they could have made room for us u see cover , a very poor show.
In fact a Crap ground despite the 3g pitch.
