Jay’s Journal

We travelled up to Leeds today ahead of tomorrow’s match.

We had looked to go on the day, like we did last year, but to help with preparations we all thought it best to get the long journey out of the way.

This ended up taking a couple of hours longer than expected, which had that been tomorrow, we’d have been cutting it fine for arriving at the ground.

Guiseley’s a big game – that goes without saying – but our destiny’s in our own hands. I still think we need two wins from these last five to get us over the line and four of those are against teams around us.

You can keep looking at the league table and second guessing who might drop points against who but at the end of the day we can only worry about ourselves and focus on what we need to do.

We had a good training session yesterday morning and went through all the things we needed to. They’ll be boosted by their win over Hartlepool but if we do our jobs as we’ve set out, then I fancy us to take the game to them and get three of the six points we’re targeting.

I’ve still got some decisions to make about tomorrow’s squad. There’s a couple of positions I am mulling over and me and Nick will have a chat about those in the morning.

In the last few matches, we’ve seen the likes of Pax, Jack Richards and Tom Wraight not in the 16. Reece Prestedge and Darius Osei have missed out too. It all depends how we set up on the day and who I see working in those positions.

We had a friendly against Southend on Tuesday afternoon, so everyone’s had a good run out this week. That was important as everyone will be needed for these last few weeks of the season.

As we know from today it’s a bit of a trek getting up here, so for all of you who are coming up tomorrow – thank you and have a safe journey. We look forward to seeing you and hearing you.
