Hot on the heels of the FA People’s Cup win, Maidstone United Raiders have added to their trophy haul by retaining the Kent Reliance Disability Cup.
This time it was the Raiders Gold team who were victorious, beating Folkestone Invicta Disability 2-0 in the final. Player of the tournament Connor Williams netting twice for the Stones.
The Gold team progressed through the group stage and beat Milton and Fulston Spiders 6-0 in the semi-final. Williams scored a brace in that game, as did Mo Shepherd and Ray Wood.
Head of disability football Lorraine Humm said: “I am so proud that we’ve retained the Kent Disability Cup. The Gold team played so well throughout the tournament and thoroughly deserved the win.
“These tournaments mean the world to the players and I’d like to thank Matt and cup committee at the Kent FA for organising it.
“It’s been a great year for the Raiders with the FA People’s Cup and taking part in the Robbie Savage’s Sport Relief challenge. We’ve still got our annual CSIS tournament at the Gallagher Stadium to look forward to as well.”
Raiders Silver and Bronze teams also took part in the group stage of the Kent Reliance Disability Cup.
