After playing a part in both goals, Joe Quigley was more than happy with Tuesday’s match at Dagenham & Redbridge.
Speaking after the 2-1 victory, he said: “I am buzzing with the win, the first three points on the board, and to get it away from home at a place like this is fantastic. It turns Saturday’s result into a very positive one and we can go to Halifax full of confidence.”
Blair Turgott’s brace either side of the break secured the points and Quigley was instrumental in both. He said: “I heard Blair shout for the first one, so I just cut that back and the second one was unlucky to hit the post but he’s sharp and got the rebound which was the main thing.”
More than 300 Stones fans made the journey to east London and the frontman was impressed with the support. He said: “The fans were fantastic and if we’ve got that all season we’ve got a right chance.”
It’s been a summer of change for the 21-year-old who’s moved up from the south coast following his departure from AFC Bournemouth. He said: “I am loving it here, the lads have been fantastic with me and I’ve settled in no problem. I am really looking forward to the rest of the season.”
