This afternoon sees the launch of the new Maidstone United Development Centre, which will be led by our very own Number One Lee Worgan.
Worgan, who joined the Stones in 2013, is the longest-serving player in the squad. A qualified coach, he’s played every league match for the past five seasons and recently overtook Tom Mills as making the most league appearances at the Gallagher since it opened in 2012.
Speaking about the new coaching sessions, Worgs said: “Our goal is to create a positive learning environment focused on players strengthening their love of the game through challenging training sessions focusing on skill development, team participation and most importantly fun.”
Sessions will run every Wednesday during term time at the Gallagher Stadiumat the following times.
17:00 to 18:00: School years 2 to 5
18:00 to 19:00: School years 6 to 9
Both sessions will have specific coaching for goalkeepers and outfield players.
There will be regular visits from first team players, as well as prizes and player of the term awards.
A player pack will be given out at the first session, which details the monthly membership scheme and other information about the coaching programme.
