Grant Smith

Smith recalled by Lincoln

Grant Smith has been recalled by Lincoln City.

The shot-stopper joined the Stones on loan at the end of October, with the initial deal running until New Year’s Eve.

However, the League Two promotion-chasers have brought Smith back to Sincil Bank ahead of their Checkatrade Trophy clash against Accrington Stanley tonight.

Stones boss Harry Wheeler said: “I am really disappointed to lose Grant but the recall was one of the conditions at the time we signed him.

“Lincoln and ourselves were keen to extend the loan into 2019 and now that’s not an option, I have already secured a new keeper who will be announced later today.”

We thank Grant for his efforts over the past few weeks.

We need central defenders that aren’t a major mishap a game or sitting so deep that they might as well link arms and sing kumbaya behind the goal line. Perhaps we should.look to recall Loza and Coker. We need a new keeper signed permanent another short term loan just adds to the instability. Maybe give the understudy a few games while we look.

Genuinely terrified of going ‘more direct’ with what we have. Been lumping it forward uselessly for too long just to see it coming straight back.

Best flat surface in the league but the ball is never on it. On the rare occasion we have got it down and played we have looked good. Until panic seems to set in and we return to lump it and hope
