Jake joins Maidstone United

Maidstone United are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Jake Cole.

The 33-year-old stopper joins us after departing Aldershot Town at the end of last season.

A product of QPR’s youth system, Jake made a handful of appearances at Loftus Road while also taking in loans at Hayes, AFC Wimbledon, Farnborough, Oxford United and Barnet.

A permanent move to Barnet followed before Cole joined Plymouth Argyle in 2011.

After a three year stint in Devon, Jake returned to the south east, signing for Woking. He then joined Aldershot in 2016, with his last appearance in Shots colours coming against the Stones at the Gallagher Stadium on the final day of last season.

After signing on the dotted line, Jake said:

“I felt the time was right for a fresh start and I am delighted to get this deal done.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to work with John and Hakan and can’t wait to get started alongside the new team they’re assembling.

“It’s shaping up to be a very competitive league next season; there’s some big names in that division and I am looking forward to the challenge and giving my all for the club.”

Meanwhile, we remain in talks with Chris Lewington with regards to him taking up a role with the club next season.
