Bags of Fun

Bags of fun this half term

All the days are rolling into one at the moment but this should have been the May half term holiday.

The Stones Community Trust were planning a week of fun activities at Heather House in Park Wood.

While Coronavirus put paid to those, community development officer Kay Skelton didn’t want the children to miss out.

With the backing of Golding Vision, the community arm of Golding Homes, Kay (pictured with son Tom and daughter Danielle) has organised daily goody bags for the children who were due to take part – collected at a social distance.

Each day there’s a different activity in the bag, from badminton to frisbee, as well as a sandwich lunch.

Kay said: “We had a great time here in February and were looking forward to coming back this week.

“When that wasn’t possible I really wanted to do something for the children and provide some fun and a fresh lunch.

“Golding Homes loved the idea and backed me to make it happen, I am very grateful for their on-going support.

“My kids, who are all adults now, couldn’t say no to helping mum out for a few hours, so it’s been fun to put the bags together at home and hand them out for a couple of hours.

“Fingers crossed we will be able to do something at Heather House during the summer holidays.”

Maidstone Borough Council, Southeastern and Street Soccer Foundation contributed items to the bags of fun –  thanks to all three.

The Stones Community Trust was established in October 2018 through funding from the National League Trust, which supports community programmes at clubs who are members of the three divisions of the National League.

Since its launch, it has also received the backing of Civil Service Insurance Society, Gallagher Group, Golding Vision, Gullands, Kent County Council, Maidstone Borough Council, Safer Kent, Samaritans Maidstone, Shepherd Neame, Street Soccer Foundation, Wellbeing People and Whitehead Monckton.
