He’s back. George Elokobi has extended his stay at the Gallagher Stadium.
The club captain returns and this season it won’t just be fans and teammates who get to enjoy that larger than life personality.
George has also signed up to coach at the club’s football academy, where his unique and infectious leadership will help the next generation with football and life skills.
Club chief exec Bill Williams said: “Every team I’ve managed or been involved with has always had a natural leader and George is up there with the best of them.
“Not only will we continue to benefit from his leadership and experience on the field, we’re delighted he will be involved with our academy this season.
“Those lads can learn a lot from someone like George, who’s played at the highest level but went through the school of hard knocks to get there, which made him into the man we know and love today.”
The 34-year-old, who made his name playing for Wolves between 2008 and 2012, joined the Stones last summer and made 38 appearances during his debut season.
Delighted to extend my stay with @maidstoneunited and want to thank the Owners, Chief Executive, the Manager Hakan for trusting me to carry on delivering for this club. Thank you to all the supporters and I look forward to banging the drums this season #chop🔥 pic.twitter.com/ozygYyMazl
