Maidstone United are delighted to announce a second signing today, as central defender Joe Ellul agrees a one-year deal.
The 31-year-old is swapping one MUFC for another, having spent last season with National League side Maidenhead United.
Before arriving at York Road last June, he enjoyed a three-month spell with New Zealand Premiership side Tasman United.
His previous clubs include East Thurrock United, Billericay Town and Braintree Town, where he worked under Hakan Hayrettin prior to his departure to the Gallagher Stadium.
Joe said: “I am really looking forward to this opportunity. I’ve got family who live nearby so was aware of the club and its past.
“At this stage of my career I really want to put down some roots and be part of building something special. I’ve met some of the people today, seen the setup and this feels so right.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Maidenhead, they were excellent to me. I wish them every success in the future.”
Bill Williams said: “Joe had a standout season with Maidenhead. He was one of those we really wanted but knew there were clubs higher up who were showing interest.
“To get this one over the line is a mark of this club’s ambition to get back to the National League and I was really impressed with Joe’s commitment and eagerness to being part of achieving that.
“We’ve had a good day today with Joe and Scott joining us. Hopefully it’s the start of many good days to come.”
