The Official Website is approaching it's 7th year and over
the years we've published reports from every Stones game.
As a new feature we look back at some of those match reports
to re-live some of those games. We'll also look back at what
was making the headlines that month for the Stones with our
review of the news archive.
In our first Championship winning season in 2001/2 Stones
fought out an exciting battle with Herne Bay in their first
fixture of the new year. A great first half saw the Stones
go 2-0 very quickly only to be pegged back to 2-2 even quicker.
And it was to be an exciting finish as Herne Bay bought it
back to 4-3 on 88mins! The following season, much like this
season, a series of postponements saw Stones hastily arrange
a friendly with Margate Reserves which they duly won. The
following season was an absolute cracker as the Stones hit
5 past Deal Town and the 2004/5 season started in the rather
less glamorous surroundings of Greenwich Borough, but it was
to be another 3 points. Last season it was a disaster at Bourne
Park on 2nd January as somehow the Stones lost to Lordswood
having just beaten them 5-0 days earlier, but they made up
for it with a last minute winner a few days later against
Erith & Belvedere.
