A 90th minute goal from Mario
McNinch was enough to give The Stones a narrow victory
over Bly Spartans.
McNinch rose to head in the winner from a well delivered
free-kick from Sam Tydeman.
Despite controlling the game The Stones rarely threatened
up front. With 10 minutes played, Tony Sinclair swung
a free-kick into the box but Mo Takaloo side footed
the chance into the Bly keeper's arms.
Takaloo was then guilty of missing again on 29 minutes
when he skied the ball over from a Sinclair cross.
Meanwhile, Kane Rice was continuing to impress with
another strong performance and just after half time
he came close to scoring his second goal for the club
when he picked the ball up in midfield and ran to the
edge of the box before unleashing a low shot which struck
the base of the post.
The introduction of Lee Sperring injected some life
into The Stones and gave them more of an attacking edge
but in the end the winner came from defender McNinch.
