| Maidstone United made a welcome return to winning ways as they ran out comfortable winners in the clash between landlords and tenants.
The margin of victory would have been even greater if Simon Austin and substitute Nathan Paul in particular, had taken full advantage of the chances that fell their way late on in the game but the fact that The Stones kept their first clean sheet in 7 matches was a particularly pleasing aspect of the evening.
The Maidstone defence had little to do in a quiet first half but Alex Tiesse looked dangerous up front for The Stones once again and with 8 minutes gone he did well to create space for a shot which he planted against Mike Elder's legs. Tiesse then sent an effort just past the right hand post after combining well with Kane Rice on 11 minutes but Maidstone's best chance of the half came 10 minutes before half time. Nick Hegley's corner came back out to him on the right hand edge of the box and he lofted the ball to the back post to Jim Strouts who headed over when well placed.
Just after this, Sittingbourne enjoyed their brightest spell when first Clint Gooding headed wide and then Kam Singh had a shot smothered by Michal Czanner.
But it wasn't until the 56th minute that the deadlock was finally broken. Kane Rice's corner was played to Nick Hegley and he cut inside before passing to Tiesse who scored his second goal inside two games with a strike from close to the penalty spot.
And five minutes later, The Stones doubled their lead when Aaron Lacy's corner was headed in at the near post by Lee Shearer.
By now Maidstone were playing with confidence and looking threatening when going forward but Michal Czanner still had to be alert to deny Clint Gooding with 68 minutes gone
However, Erisson Ahwan added a gloss to the score line with a well struck goal when he latched onto a loose ball and volleyed over Mike Elder 15 minutes from time.
