The Stones have now played six away games in the Ryman Premier League and all have ended in defeat. With just one goal scored and twenty three conceded in these matches, Maidstone's away record is poor to say the least.
One of the most disappointing aspects of The Stones’ away form is that as soon as the home side takes the lead it feels as if it will be a big achievement for Maidstone to battle their way back into the game to get a draw. However, this time they never came close to getting any points away at Billericay after they gifted the Essex side the first two goals.
There was an early warning for The Stones as on three minutes Joe Flack shot just wide of the right hand post.
But just six minutes later, the home side took the lead when the ball went straight through the Maidstone midfield and defence to Bradley Wood-Garness. The Billericay striker slipped as he tried to control the ball but he still had time to regain his balance before riffling his shot past Pat Mullin.
It took until the 31st minute for The Stones to threaten the Billericay goal when Andy Martin crossed for Nick Hegley but his resultant shot was blocked by Jack Buckfield's legs.
Martin then felt he should have been awarded a penalty in the 35th minute when he tumbled over in a crowded penalty area but there was no chance for Maidstone to pull level and just six minutes later, the home side doubled their lead. Once again Maidstone's defence was sliced wide open on the counter attack and this time it was Flack who rounded Mullin before slotting the ball into the net.
Shortly after half time Mullin made a smart save to tip Jamie Dormer's drive round the post but he could do nothing to prevent Billericay's third goal on fifty eight minutes when Lee Hodges was allowed to waltz across the edge of the area before lofting a delightful finish over the Maidstone keeper.
With 68 minutes played, Andy Martin was fortunate not to be sent off for a second yellow card following a tussle with Steve Heffer.
hen on 82 minutes, substitute Tony Boot rounded off another disappointing evening for Stones when he latched onto a pass from fellow substitute Rikki Burbridge and sent the ball into the far side of the net.
