Match Rating

The form table and league table make for bad reading for Maidstone United at the moment. However, despite being two points and one place off the relegation zone, the closest league in years leave plenty of room for optimism.

This fixture had been cancelled twice due to bad weather and it wasn't to prove third time lucky for the Stones after they conceeded a goal with just four minutes on the clock when Wealdstone's Liam Henderson headed home a cross from Dean Papali.

Loan signing Andy Pugh got the Stones back on level terms nine minutes later following a defensive mix-up between Jomo Faal-Thomas and Daniel Carr.

Wealdstone scored their second and decisive goal before the half time whistle with Ryan Ashe fired home from the edge of the box.

Steve Northwood replaced Pat Mullin between the sticks at the start of the second half, with Aaron Lacy and Mo Takaloo replacing Conor Hagan and Andy Pugh after 63 minutes.

The second half, like much of the first, was a scrappy affair - with both side realising the pressure on them as the season enters its final weeks.

Maidstone United joint managers Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume know the task ahead of them and will be preparing their team for the business end of the season.
