With the transfer deadline just 24 hours away we are pleased to announce that we have completed the signing of Erisson Awhan. Erisson will be no stranger to many Stones fans as he was instumental in helping the Stones achieve promotion to the Ryman Premier League in 2006/07. After leaving the club in the early part of 2008 he had a brief spell at Sevenoaks Town. Unfortunately Erisson will only be available for mid week matches but he will still provide valuable cover at both centre half and centre midfield during the important final run in as we come to terms with having Peter Hawkins suspended for 2 games and Rob Lyall away in Ghana for the next 3 weeks. Erisson is a PE teacher and has also been playing locally twice a week so he is fit and raring to get a Stones shirt back on again.
We are also delighted to inform you that we have agreed terms with Andy Walker to sign for us on a permanant basis after his loan agreement expired last Saturday. It was very important that we secured his services from Billericay as otherwise being a goalkeeper they could have called him back at any time under the terms of a loan signing. Andy has been in top form since he re-joined us last month and long may it continue.
Charlie Stimson's 'Work Experience' spell with us has now ended and he has returned to Gillingham with a view to going out on loan to another club before the transfer deadline. We thank Charlie for his efforts during his brief spell with us and wish him all the best with his professional career.
25th March 09:30
The club is pleased to announce that after having discussions with Dartford FC Peter Hawkins will remain a Maidstone United player.
Peter is a key player for us as we attempt to climb away from the relegation zone so this news has given us a tremendous boost. We thank Peter for the loyalty and commitment he has shown.
16th March 14:00
Stones manager Peter Nott has announced two further additions to the squad, both from Bromley FC.
- Mark Cornielle: Mark joined Bromley 4 years ago from Gillingham where he made a handful of 1st team appearances. Mark, 23 years old, is a true competitor and is comfortable playing anywhere in midfield or at right back and was named 'Player of the Year' at Bromley in 2007/08, in total he made over 150 appearances for them.
- Adrian Stone: Adrian, 27 years old, is a strong centre forward and has scored 20 goals in just over 100 appearances for Bromley during different spells. He started this season with Welling and has also scored for both Hastings and Merstham during short term loan deals this season.
Both players will join the squad in time for tonight's game replacing the injured Danny Hockton (groin) and Steve Elliott (suspended). Unfortunately Nathan Paul, Tom Parkinson, Chris Saunders, Jermaine Darlington and Dean Bradshaw all still remained sidelined with injuries.
5th March 18:30
Stones manager Peter Nott has announced three new
signings today.
- Chris Saunders: Central midfielder/right
back signed from Welling. Chris is 21-years-old and
lives in Leybourne. He is a Welsh Youth International.
Chris is a tenacious player who started his football
career with Charlton Athletic and has also featured
for Fisher Athletic and East Thurrock in the Blue
Square.
- Alex Tiesse: No introduction required only
a warm welcome back to Alex who has recently left
Dulwich Hamlet.
- Charlie Stimson: We have signed Charlie on
'work experience' from Gillingham. He is a very promising
18-year-old centre forward who has been playing Reserve
team football. Charlie was also named as a substitute
against Aston Villa in the FA Cup game earlier this
season. He is the son of Gills manager Mark Stimson.
Peter Nott said: "I'm very pleased to secure
the services of Chris, Alex and Charlie. It's been
a busy few days getting everything in place. Subject
to their registrations being cleared in time all
three players will link up with the squad tomorrow."
In other news, Nott and assistant boss Tony Cornwell
have agreed to Keelan Mooney signing Kent League forms
with Tunbridge Wells until the end of the season. The
Stones will retain Keelan's Ryman registration so he
will still be eligible to play for the club.
Nott added: "We feel in order to develop his
undobted potential he needs to be playing on a regular
basis so this arrangement should benefit all parties
involved."
