Walks and awards
Maidstone United Football
Club held their annual end of season presentation at
the Hilton Maidstone during the weekend of 12/13 June.
Many of the club's 31 teams came together to celebrate
the 2009/2010 season. Trophies were awarded to the most
improved player, players' player and manager's player.
There was also a clubman award - this prize recognised
outstanding achievement or commitment, triumph over
adversity or a good all-rounder.
Peter Nott and Richard Edwards
For the last few seasons, one club official has received
the John Page Memorial Shield. This year it was presented
to Richard Edwards for his outstanding contribution
during the season, First team manager Peter Nott presented
Richard with the shield.
As well as the awards, it was also a fundraising weekend.
The Hilton Maidstone is working alongside Maidstone
United as a charity partner for 2010. The hotel staff
aim to raise as much money as they can to support the
club's PAN Disability teams. It is all part of the company's
community foundation.
Hilton in the Community Foundation is a grant-making
organisation which fundraises throughout Hilton Worldwide
properties in Europe to support disadvantaged children
and young people. By the end of 2009, grants totalling
£7.4million have been made, benefiting more than
two million young people through a variety of education,
health, and disaster relief projects. Hilton Worldwide
funds the core costs of the Foundation, so every net
£1 and €1 goes directly to projects helping
young people.
Players, parents and team managers took part in the
Miles4Fun - challenging themselves to complete a set
route around the hotel. Four times around the hotel
equalled one mile.
During the weekend 608 miles were clocked up - that's
the best the Hilton Maidstone has achieved for seven
years. Player Tom Mason completed 80 circuits of the
hotel, clocking up 20 miles. Congratulations Tom!
