Opposite the Gallagher Stadium, Whatman Park lies at the heart of Maidstone River Park.
Just half a mile from the town centre, this 18-acre site combines a natural landscape of woodland and wildflower meadow. It has adventure play areas, a treetop walk, skatepark and riverstage open-air performance arena, offering a retreat with countless activities for all the family.
The park was opened in 2001 by Terry Waite CBE and the then Mayor of Maidstone Paulina Stockell. It is one of the lasting legacy projects funded in part by the National Lottery to celebrate the new millennium.
Whatman Park is accessible from St Peter’s Street or via two bridges – the Kent Messenger Millennium Bridge (nearest the Gallagher Stadium) and the Downstream Millennium Bridge (near Ringlestone).
The Kentish Lady riverboat stops at Whatman Park Wharf on request.
